6-Jun-22 Common Blue Butterfly (Polyommatus icarus)
I think in the past I have probably labelled this species incorrectly as Holly Blue. Although very similar in size and top wing colouring, the underwing is very different and they are two seperate species. The Holly Blue has a blue blue underwing with black spots and a black trim to the upper wing (whereas the common blue has white trim to the wing edge). For a comparison see my shot of Holly Blue from 11 May in this folder.

on June 6, 2022This image is so sharp with amazing details. I love the look of the underwing and the tiny hairs along the wingtips and the upper body. Fantastic image, and thank you for your comparison of the two type of butterflies.
